Olivier Sliepen studied the saxophone in Luxembourg with Guy Goethals, then with Arno Bornkamp at the Conservatory in Amsterdam, where he was awarded an excellent bachelor in 2002, and a master with distinction in 2004.
The Erasmus exchange program allowed him to work with Claude Delangle at the Conservatoire de Paris.
Olivier Sliepen is the winner of the 1995 EMCY Competition and of the Third International Saxophone Competition Gustav Bumcke.
As a solist and active chamber musician he has performed, amongst others, with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra. the Solistes Européens and new music ensemble Insomnio.
In 2002 he was invited by the Frankfurt Ballet to create a new composition by Thom Willems based on a new choreography by William Forsythe.
He’s also a member of the Amstel Quartet, Amsterdam. The latter is performing all over the world and has won several international awards,such as a 1ste Prize at the Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition in 2004, the International Gaudeamus Interpreters Prize in 2005 and the Concert Artists Guild Award , New York, in 2006.
He’s collaborating with numerous composers and is a member of Ensemble United Instruments of LUCILIN since 2002.
