Guy Frisch

Percussions

¨Guy Frisch began his musical studies at the Luxembourg Conservatory of Music, then moved
on to the Strasbourg Conservatory and eventually studied at the Royal Conservatory of the
Hague where he passed the Master of Music degree.

From then on, he has devoted his career to contemporary and improvised music, including
in his musical repertoire works by Berio, Ferneyhough, Kagel, Lachenmann and Xenakis,
and featuring in creations by Campana, Donatoni, Dillon, Jarrell, Toeplitz, Matalon, Pauset,
Mullenbach, Kerger, Reuter, among others.

He participated in projects with groups such as ö, Accroche Note, Le Quiproquo, and Bruits
Défendus in France and with Alter Ego in Roma, and he performed in various festivals
among which Musica in Strasbourg, Ars Musica in Brussels, the Musical Season at the
Abbey of Royaumont in France, and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in the
UK.

Several recordings with Accroche Note, Bruits Défendus, Jerry Bergonzi, and Lucilin have
also proven his dedication to contemporary music activities.

From 1995 to 2000, he taught at the Strasbourg Conservatory, and today is a professor at
the Luxembourg Conservatory of Music. He leads master classes in Bordeaux and Poitiers,
France, and in Bremen, Germany.

He is a co-founder and the director of the Luxembourgish contemporary music ensemble
“United Instruments of Lucilin”.
