André Pons-Valdès

Violin

After studying the violin in Aix-en-Provence, then in Manhattan, New York, and eventually

at the National Superior Conservatory of Music in Lyon, André Pons-Valdes has been
sharing his professional career between teaching at the Metz Conservatory of Music, and
playing chamber music with LUCILIN and the Stravinsky Ensemble, involving himself in the
promotion of the 20th and 21st century music.

His studies as well as his personal tastes and eclecticism have led him to a large
contemporary repertoire including art music; experimental improvisation; performing live with
performing arts such as drama and dancing; and Indian music.

He was a cofounder of LUCILIN, and it is with this ensemble that he has been exploring the
most varied forms of today’s artistic languages.

With various chamber orchestras, and more particularly with LUCILIN, he has performed in
Denmark, Brazil, Portugal, Japan, Estonia, Germany, the Netherlands, Argentina, China,
France and Luxembourg.

André Pons-Valdes participated in recordings for Fuga Libera, Grave, 3D Classics,
Vand’Oeuvre, Parnassie Editions, Le Chant du Monde and Label Inconnu.
