On April 3, 2024, the United Instruments of Lucilin ensemble offered the audience at the Muziekgebouw an immersive experience into the world of « O Táxi Nº 9297. » This ambitious production is the result of a collaboration between the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, Digitópia Casa da Música in Portugal, and the United Instruments of Lucilin ensemble in Luxembourg. It brought together 17 musicians on stage for two hours of suspense.

The performance was warmly received by the audience, who responded enthusiastically to both the film and the music, infused with humor. Inspired by a real criminal case and considered a classic of Portuguese silent cinema, this detective drama directed by Reinaldo Ferreira subtly plays with the viewer’s expectations. The renewed soundtrack by Igor C Silva delicately supports the atmospheric contrasts and clever editing of the silent film from 1927, offering a subtle score that allows room for improvisation by the musicians.

From Luxembourg to Amsterdam

« O Táxi Nº 9297 » was first presented in 2021 at the Philharmonie de Luxembourg as part of the Atlantico festival. This performance at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam three years later demonstrates the ensemble’s ability to carry projects beyond the borders of Luxembourg.
