Lucilin in The City #13: Guy Helminger en visite chez Lucilin

Friday, March 15th, Guy Helminger's poems came to life amidst musical notes. Let's look back at this new episode of our independent concert series Lucilin in The City.

On the stage of the small Sang à Klang venue, the United Instruments of Lucilin and Guy Helminger organized an intimate encounter between music and poetry. Drawing from a diverse selection of contemporary pieces proposed by the musicians, the poet presented texts from his work, focusing on love and travel, adapted for the occasion.

Together to defy silence

Music and poetry share many similarities. Both forms of art convey emotions, images, and stories. Yet, to create this program, the ensemble musicians and Guy Helminger faced a significant challenge. Together, they worked to harmonize the words and notes of existing works and pieces. Striving for the right balance, they managed to merge these universes, rather than simply coexisting.

Everything is music

In a harmonious whole, poetry and music conversed together; a polite discussion that accommodates everyone, full of humor and emotion that sometimes turns into dispute. With his voice as an instrument, and just like the other musicians, the poet became an actor in service of these freshly created works. Between breaks in rhythm and dramatic intonations, he explores new ways of delivering his text, creating a unique experience.

A Friday evening among friends

About forty people were present to attend this concert where the staging by Lionel Ménard and the lighting effects by Mad Trix contributed to creating a warm atmosphere. According to several spectators, it was a charming moment for which they did not regret searching for parking for a long time!
