Luxembourg in Four Acts: A Journey Through Text and Music
This unique performance blends literature and music to explore the history, landscapes, and identities of Luxembourg. Writer Samuel Hamen presents four short stories inspired by emblematic themes: the transition from the steel industry to the banking sector, the landscapes and history of the Eisleck region, migration and cultural diversity, and the architecture of the city.
In response to these narratives, four young composers have created original musical pieces, each approximately seven minutes long. An artistic encounter where texts and music engage in dialogue to reveal the soul of a nation.

Programme:
Georges Sadeler, Frozen Valors
Nik Bohnenberger, iterations of the tertiary sector
Eluned Davies, Hollowtooth 23rd
Hy-Khang Dang, Saudades

Rosalie Maes, recitation
Claire Wagener, staging
Samuel Hamen, text

Das Malerische Luxemburg

Live-Cinema

Das Malerische Luxemburg

Live-Cinema

A journey through historic Luxembourg. Between archival films and works by contemporary composers, the contrast is masterful, yet above all, poetic.

The seven films selected by Paul Lesch, evoke nostalgia for eras that preceded us and depict a Luxembourg of the past. From the depths of slate mines to the delicate bubbles of Mercier champagne, the program of this live cinema tells a Luxembourg as you’ve never seen it, as you will never see it again, yet strangely familiar due to its diversity. Between these period films and the music of contemporary composers, the gap is vast but above all, poetic.

In collaboration with the Centre National de l’Audiovisuel (CNA).
